Softball Recap: Crab Orchard's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Crab Orchard put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinals get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Jada Burnett-Hatton made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Aubrey Holmes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Adri Ortega was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Crab Orchard pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crab Orchard will venture away from home to challenge Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pope County at 4:30 p.m. on April 10.
