Arbor View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Sierra Vista, who was ranked 17th at the time (Arbor View was ranked fourth). The Aggies walked away with a 9-6 win over the Mountain Lions on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Aggies have won by exactly three runs.
The team relied heavily on Dasani Martin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Devin Martin was another key player, earning one RBI and two runs.
Basic came out on top against Green Valley on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Wolves never let the Gators get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.
The result came thanks to Noah Sebastian's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Andruw Giles was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Southisene, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Basic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive games.
Arbor View's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Basic, their record is now 18-6.
Arbor View might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Basic in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Aggies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
