Softball Game Preview: South Fulton Red Devils vs. Dresden Lions

The South Fulton Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Dresden Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

South Fulton had taken Gleason down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Red Devils fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1.

South Fulton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Piper Lusk, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Dresden had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They didn't even let the Yellowjackets on the board, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Emma Parham was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Allie Spaulding, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Dresden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matches.

South Fulton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Dresden, their record now sits at 6-8.

South Fulton skirted past Dresden 7-6 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
