Baseball Recap: Leland Cubs vs. West Bolivar Eagles
After flying high against West Tallahatchie last Tuesday, Leland came back down to earth. The Cubs took a 16-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Bolivar Eagles on Friday. The Cubs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 17-4.

Nicholas Allen was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, Leland got a massive performance out of Kevandre Rawls, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Rawls has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of TeQuezian Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.
The loss snapped Leland's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-5 record. As for West Bolivar, their record now sits at 6-2.
