Basketball Recap: Victory Futures Academy Find Success

Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Victory Futures Academy beat BASIS - Mesa 69-63 on Wednesday.

Several BASIS - Mesa players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joey Frivaldo, who shot 53% from the field en route to 26 points. The matchup was Frivaldo's fifth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Omari Hester, who went 9-for-19 on his way to 19 points along with five assists and four steals.

Victory Futures Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for BASIS - Mesa, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Victory Futures Academy will venture away from home to take on Brighton Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. BASIS - Mesa and Skyline - Gila River will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
