Madison Academy hadn't done well against Athens recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 2-0. The Mustangs were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Golden Eagles, so the Mustangs were just returning the favor.

Janelle Lowery paced Madison Academy's offense, picking up eight kills. Lowery got some help from Sarah Bacon and her 26 assists. Bacon was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Madison Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Athens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.

Coincidentally, Madison Academy and Athens will both be playing Athens Bible the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will head out to face the Trojans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Golden Eagles will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
