Basketball Game Preview: Hibriten Panthers vs. Bessemer City Yellow Jackets

Having just played yesterday, the Hibriten Panthers will jump right back in to play the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Hibriten has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 22.

Hibriten came up short against T.C. Roberson on Thursday, falling 61-37. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly 24 points.

Meanwhile, Bessemer City suffered their biggest defeat since February 20th on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 91-54 loss at the hands of Freedom. The matchup marked the Yellow Jackets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Hibriten will need focus on slowing down Tristen Gordon, one of several Bessemer City players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Gordon continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Guyton, who posted ten points and three steals.

Hibriten's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Bessemer City, they moved to 8-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Hibriten barely slipped by Bessemer City in their previous matchup back in December of 2017, winning 48-47. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Bessemer City's Justice Davis, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points in addition to six assists and five steals.
