Softball Game Preview: Williams Vikings vs. Page Sand Devils

The Williams Vikings will face off against the Page Sand Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Williams is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Williams is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Holbrook just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 14-6 to the Roadrunners. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since February 27th.

Reina Rocha made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Torres, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Page owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Monument Valley.

Page saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Nez, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Nez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Page has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Williams, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Williams has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Page struggles in that department as they've averaged .515. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
