Softball Recap: Caney Creek Comes Up Short

Caney Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 16-1 to the New Caney Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 back in March.

Caney Creek saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Castaneda, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Caney Creek's record now sits at 4-20. As for New Caney, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-11-2.

Looking ahead, Caney Creek will head out to face off against Conroe at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for New Caney, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against The Woodlands at 12:45 p.m.
