            Baseball Preview: Pomona Panthers vs. Deer Valley Skyhawks        
        
		
        
        
            The Pomona Panthers are taking a road trip to  take on the Deer Valley Skyhawks  at 1:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Deer Valley took a loss in their last  matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pomona, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Pomona beat Mountain Range 7-3. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Panthers.
 Tyler Dempsey looked comfortable as he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  he has posted since back in April of 2024.
 On the hitting side,  Tavin Caldwell was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave  him a new career-high in  hits.  Spencer Werner was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double.
 Pomona  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Range only posted  an  OBP of  .296.
Meanwhile, Deer Valley suffered their closest  defeat since April 18, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Elizabeth by a score of  7-5.
 Max Weaver put in work while hitting and pitching. He  didn't allow a single  earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Weaver was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Hunter Metz was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 3-for-4 with two  RBI and one  double. Another player making a difference was  Maqelo Douglas, who  went 2-for-5 with three  RBI.
 Pomona now  has a winning record of 2-1. As for Deer Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1.
