Softball Recap: New Lexington Takes a Loss

New Lexington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Athens Bulldogs, falling 11-4. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in April of 2021.

Lexi Buckman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

New Lexington's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Athens, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Coming up, New Lexington will square off against West Muskingum at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tornadoes have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. Athens has already played their next matchup (against Fairfield Union), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
