Recap: Roger Bacon Spartans vs. Bishop Brossart Mustangs
On Tuesday, Roger Bacon opened the new year with a less-than-successful 36-28 loss to Bishop Brossart. While losing is never fun, Roger Bacon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 394th in Ohio, while Bishop Brossart is ranked 46th in Kentucky).
Despite the loss, Roger Bacon had strong showings from Gussie Hoffman, who scored nine points, and Gabby Ernst, who scored six points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Roger Bacon's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-8. As for Bishop Brossart, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roger Bacon will take on Norwood at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bishop Brossart, they will head out on the road to face off against Nicholas County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
