Basketball Recap: New Haven Comes Up Short

New Haven was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 59-38 to the Leo Lions. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Bulldogs, who fell 38-35 when the teams last met back in January of 2023.

It was another big night for Leah Shappell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards for Leo. Shappell's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Collins, who posted nine points along with six assists and six rebounds.

New Haven's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Leo, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Haven will welcome Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Leo, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against East Noble at 6:00 p.m.
