Basketball Recap: Jackson-Reed Tigers vs. Coolidge Colts
After flying high against Cardozo last Wednesday, Jackson-Reed came back down to earth. The Jackson-Reed Tigers were dealt an 81-45 loss at the hands of the Coolidge Colts on Monday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Colts recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
It was another big night for Josslyn Derricott, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 17 boards for Coolidge. That makes it three consecutive games in which Derricott has scored at least a third of Coolidge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Serena Strong, who posted 14 points and six rebounds.
Jackson-Reed's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Coolidge, they pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.
Jackson-Reed will host MacArthur at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Coolidge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-46 victory against Bowie on the 28th.
