Softball Game Preview: Smackover Buckaroos vs. Harmony Grove Hornets

Smackover has gone 8-2 against Harmony Grove recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Buckaroos will welcome the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. Smackover will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

Smackover lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Drew Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Buckaroos put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 10-2 win on Thursday. The Buckaroos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Emily Camacho made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Julia James was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Darden, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Harmony Grove came up short against Genoa Central on Monday, falling 12-6. The loss continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost three in a row.

Smackover's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Harmony Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
