Baseball Game Preview: Towson Generals vs. Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers

The Towson Generals will head out to face off against the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Towson's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Archbishop Spalding's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Towson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maryland's top teams: Mount St. Joseph, who was ranked 16th at the time (Towson was ranked 11th). The Generals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Gaels on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Generals have posted since May 6, 2024.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Spalding made easy work of John Carroll on Friday and carried off an 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Archbishop Spalding's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Towson, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Towson couldn't quite get it done against Archbishop Spalding in their previous meeting back in May of 2015 as they fell 4-1. Can the Generals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
