Basketball Recap: Braden WARD's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Galeton over Austin

Galeton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Austin Panthers. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 44-41.

Galeton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braden WARD, who posted nine points and six steals. WARD has been hot recently, having posted six or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was MASYN MALACZEWSKI, who had seven points and nine boards.

Galeton's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Austin, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-11.

Galeton and Smethport will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Austin has already played their next contest (against Otto-Eldred), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
