Recap: Mt. Zion Bulldogs vs. Lovett Lions
The Mt. Zion Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 77-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lovett. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Monday (60), Mt. Zion still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Mt. Zion still got an impressive performance from Jaki Bell, who scored 26 points. Bell hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Devante Burgest was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Lovett's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landyn Murphy led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cain, who scored 15 points.
Mt. Zion dropped their record down to 4-14 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Lovett, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Zion will take on Stockbridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lovett on the road again on Tuesday and play against McDonough at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. McDonough has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 492 points over their last seven matchups.
