Baseball Recap: Monrovia Comes Up Short

Monrovia started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against La Canada. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 4-3 on Monday. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

James Quesenbery was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Josh Griffiths and Isaias Hernandez did some serious damage despite the final result: Griffiths went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while Hernandez went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Monrovia's defeat dropped their record down to 19-5. As for La Canada, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-11.

While Monrovia had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
