Softball Game Preview: Luray Bulldogs vs. Stonewall Jackson Generals

The Luray Bulldogs will challenge the Stonewall Jackson Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Luray is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Luray turned things around against Madison County on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Mountaineers with a sharp 17-7 win. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Emilee Hassett was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Madelyn Alger was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Luray always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Strasburg hit Stonewall Jackson with a four-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Generals lost 10-4 to the Rams.

Stonewall Jackson has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Luray, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.
