Softball Preview: Calhoun Academy Cavaliers vs. Clarendon Hall Saints
The Calhoun Academy Cavaliers will head out on the road to take on the Clarendon Hall Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Calhoun Academy had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 17-0 walloping at the hands of Orangeburg Prep back in March.
Meanwhile, Clarendon Hall can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. Everything went their way against Dorchester Academy as Clarendon Hall made off with a 13-2 victory. The win was familiar territory for Clarendon Hall who now have seven in a row.
Calli Yount and Colleen McIntosh made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Yount tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also didn't allow any walks). Meanwhile, McIntosh didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate, Yount scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while McIntosh scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Sidney Berry was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Harrington, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
