Soccer Game Preview: LaGrange vs. Spalding

The LaGrange Grangers will face off against the Spalding Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. LaGrange has given up an average of 2.8 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

LaGrange is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Decatur on Monday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 9-0. LaGrange's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Spalding entered their tilt with Luella on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Lions a 2-0 shutout. While Spalding didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Neveah Thomas and Alondra Padilla scored both of Spalding's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

LaGrange's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Spalding, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

LaGrange got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Spalding by a conclusive 4-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grangers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
