Volleyball Recap: Briarcliff Bears vs. Dobbs Ferry Eagles
Briarcliff lost against Dobbs Ferry back in September of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bears fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Briarcliff started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-8, 15-8.
Dobbs Ferry's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Denike, who had 21 kills, 15 digs, eight aces, and one block. Denike is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last 20 games she's played dating back to last season. Hollen Peet was another key player, getting 22 digs, 11 kills, five aces, and one block.
Briarcliff's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Dobbs Ferry, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Briarcliff will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rhinebeck at 9:00 a.m. on the 27th. As for Dobbs Ferry, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Edgemont on the 10th.
