Basketball Recap: California City Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

California City entered their tilt with Bishop Union on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They walked away with a 68-61 victory over the Bishop Union Broncos. This was a revenge game for the Ravens: when they faced off against the Broncos back in January, they had to take a 50-47 loss.

California City was led to victory by Avery 'Skywalker' Spears and Cassius 'Hollywood' Brown. Spears almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds, while Brown went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Spears' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Celeb Dunlap was another key player, putting up nine points.

California City's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.4 points over those games. As for Bishop Union, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 17-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. California City will venture away from home to take on Kern Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in California City's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. As for Bishop Union, they will head out on the road to face off against Boron at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
