Softball Game Preview: La Feria Lions vs. Zapata Hawks

The La Feria Lions will square off against the Zapata Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Feria knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Zapata likes a good challenge.

La Feria's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Grulla with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Zapata came into Tuesday's game having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over King on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since February 21st.

La Feria pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Zapata, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-13-1.
