Football Recap: Summit Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Providence Hall last Friday, Summit Academy came back down to earth. The Bears fell 43-38 to the Layton Christian Academy Eagles on Friday. The Bears lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 49-14 score last time.

Layton Christian Academy was led to victory by Chris Munroe and Trevor Halalilo. Munroe rushed for 208 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, while Halalilo gained 330 total yards and three touchdowns. Halalilo's longest rush was for an impressive 61 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Summit Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Layton Christian Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Summit Academy and Layton Christian Academy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Bears see the field they'll take on Emery at 4:00 p.m. on the 31st. As for Layton Christian Academy, their break will end when they face Victor Valley at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
