The Geneva Panthers will head out to challenge the New Brockton Gamecocks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Geneva turned things around against Geneva County on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with an 11-4 win. The Panthers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 14th.

Jacob Rose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Geneva is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-7 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Haze Ammons, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. John Parker Johnson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, New Brockton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They blew past the Wildcats 8-2. Considering the Gamecocks have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Hayden Pope and Judd Thomas did most of the damage at the plate: Pope scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3, while Thomas scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Hand, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
New Brockton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Geneva, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
Geneva came out on top in a nail-biter against New Brockton in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, sneaking past 8-6. Will Geneva repeat their success, or does New Brockton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
