Softball Recap: Haughton Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Haughton barely beat Neville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Buccaneers blew past the Tigers 12-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Brianna Benecke was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Presley Yerby was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Haughton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-13. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Neville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Haughton will head out to face off against Airline at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Neville, they will face off against Pineville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
