Basketball Recap: Nixon Beats Juarez-Lincoln for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Nixon had won four straight games and Mason Vela did his part to make it five on Friday. The Nixon Mustangs breezed by the Juarez-Lincoln Huskies to the tune of 85-6 thanks in part to Vela, who made all 12 shots he took for 27 points along with five assists and four steals. His afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ozzie Garza, who posted eight points along with seven steals and six boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game.

Nixon's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 57.7 points. As for Juarez-Lincoln, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Nixon will challenge Mission at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Juarez-Lincoln, they will face off against Palmview at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
