Solanco is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while Penn Manor is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Golden Mules will host the Comets at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Solanco 2.5, Penn Manor 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Solanco came out on top against Conestoga Valley on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Golden Mules walked away with a 6-2 win over the Buckskins.
Kira Roark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Fedoruk, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Delaney Gote was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Solanco lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Penn Manor won against Cedar Crest on Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Comets' way against J.P. McCaskey as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Kyleigh Lamborn made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Lamborn was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Riley Frank was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Skiadas, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Penn Manor has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Solanco, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.
Solanco skirted past Penn Manor 1-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2018. Will the Golden Mules repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
