Baseball Recap: Hernando Beats South Gibson for Their Third Straight Victory

Hernando never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past the South Gibson Hornets 6-0. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Hernando got a great performance from Coen McKnight as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Hernando let Luke Romine and Brannan Overstreet run wild. Romine scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Overstreet scored a run while going 1-for-3. Romine also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Connor Young was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Hernando kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

Hernando's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for South Gibson, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3.

Coming up, Hernando will host Southaven at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Gibson, they will head out to face off against Grant Community at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
