Softball Recap: De Anza Comes Up Short

De Anza was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saint Mary's Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-9 last Monday.

De Anza saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riana Everetts, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Maria Uriarte also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

De Anza's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Saint Mary's, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. De Anza is set to take on their familiar foe St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Saint Mary's will face off against rival Pinole Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
