Preview: A.C. Reynolds Rockets vs. North Buncombe Black Hawks

Two dominant guards in Julie Janus and Aubrey Gilliland are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The A.C. Reynolds Rockets will be playing at home against the North Buncombe Black Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. A.C. Reynolds will be looking to keep their 12-game home win streak alive.

A.C. Reynolds can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 62-41 margin over McDowell. Given A.C. Reynolds' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while McDowell is ranked 57th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, North Buncombe came up short against Asheville on Wednesday and fell 45-38. North Buncombe has struggled against Asheville recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

North Buncombe's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Gilliland, who scored six points along with four steals, and Edmonds Gracie who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Gilliland has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

North Buncombe struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

A.C. Reynolds' victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for North Buncombe, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

Everything came up roses for A.C. Reynolds against North Buncombe in their previous matchup on January 3rd as the team secured a 74-43 victory. Does A.C. Reynolds have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Buncombe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
