The Caston Comets will face off against the North Miami Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Caston comes in on three and North Miami on four.
Caston's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Pioneer by a score of 3-0.
The result came thanks to Carson Harness's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Caston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Mollenkopf, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
North Miami came out on top against North Judson-San Pierre on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Warriors blew past the Bluejays 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Drew Wright made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ryan Meredith, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.
North Miami kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
North Miami's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Caston, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Caston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like North Miami struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
