Recap: Lewistown Indians vs. Peoria Christian Chargers

The Lewistown Indians were the 39-34 winner over the Peoria Christian Chargers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lewistown was outmatched by Peoria Christian on the road and fell 60-25. While losing is never fun, Lewistown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 698th, while Peoria Christian is ranked 251st).

Peoria Christian's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malachi Persinger, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trae Brickner, who scored 18 points along with two steals.

Lewistown has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 16 of their last 17 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season. As for Peoria Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-10.

Lewistown won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Greenfield/Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Greenfield/Northwestern is facing Lewistown at the right time seeing as Lewistown is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Peoria Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Farmington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Peoria Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games.
