Recap: Hardaway Hawks vs. Westover Patriots
The Hardaway Hawks entered their tilt with the Westover Patriots with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Hardaway blew past Westover 86-28 at home. Hardaway's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Mikayla Johnson, who went 8 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 1 assist. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Hardaway's points. Another player making a difference was La?niya Meeks, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Jada Landers and Chasity Green certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Landers dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Green scored eight points. Landers has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played.
Westover struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hardaway pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Hardaway pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.93 points. As for Westover, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Hardaway will head out on the road to face off against Shaw at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Shaw will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Hardaway is ranked 49th). As for Westover, they will be playing at home against Cairo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cairo is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
