Football Game Preview: Holland Patent Golden Knights vs. Adirondack Wildcats

The Holland Patent Golden Knights will face off against the Adirondack Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Holland Patent and six for Adirondack dating back to last season.

Holland Patent made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Skaneateles, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Golden Knights fell just short of the Lakers by a score of 44-42 on Friday. The Golden Knights gained 141 more yards on the day, but it was the Lakers that made the best use of them.

Despite the defeat, Holland Patent got top-tier performance from Ethan Briggs, who rushed for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 309 yards and three TDs while completing 73.1% of his passes.

Meanwhile, Adirondack played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Canastota, falling 49-13. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.

Loss or not, Adirondack got some senior leadership from Robert Weiler and Michael Baker. Weiler rushed for 109 yards and one score, while Baker rushed for 85 yards and one TD on only five carries. Those 109 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Weiler.

Adirondack's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Holland Patent, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Holland Patent was dealt a bruising 46-6 defeat at the hands of Adirondack in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Golden Knights, John Hennessey (who rushed for 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
