Softball Recap: Hemet Comes Up Short

Hemet extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 14-12 in the process. They lost 7-0 to the Valley View Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly seven runs.

As for Valley View, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

For Valley View's part, not much got past Giselle Morales, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Hemet off the board. Morales has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Torres, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Destiny Mendoza was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hemet does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Valley View, they have already played their next game, an 11-2 win against Oak Hills on the 7th.
