Preview: Buhach Colony Thunder vs. Central Valley Hawks
Buhach Colony is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Hawks a 21-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Buhach Colony Thunder will take on the Central Valley Hawks at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Buhach Colony struggled with assists on Friday (the Gauchos had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Buhach Colony's tough 66-44 defeat to the Gauchos might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Buhach Colony in their matchups with the Gauchos: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite their defeat, Buhach Colony saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Elijah Garza, who scored nine points along with five steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Chapman, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Central Valley took a serious blow against the Bears on Friday, falling 77-36. Central Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-18.
Central Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryan Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Emmanuel Carranza who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Buhach Colony has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Central Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-19.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Buhach Colony have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Central Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Buhach Colony came up short against the Hawks when the teams last played back in January, falling 73-60. Will Buhach Colony have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
