Basketball Game Preview: Flat Rock Rams vs. Riverview Pirates + Official Tickets

Two dominant guards in Madleen Hussein and Ellie Ortiz are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Flat Rock Rams will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Riverview Pirates at 7:00 p.m.

Flat Rock is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Saline just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Hornets, falling 56-31. The Rams were down 45-21 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Hussein was Flat Rock's leading scorer, having posted 12 points. Lily Klein held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Riverview had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.1 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They walked away with a 57-45 win over the Chargers. Riverview's victory was all the more impressive since the Chargers were averaging only 29.8 points allowed on the season.

Riverview's win came from a few key players that Flat Rock will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gracie Urista, who went 8-for-17 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Caiya Hunter, who posted ten points.

Flat Rock's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Riverview, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Flat Rock has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Riverview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Flat Rock didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Riverview in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Pirates' Averi Westbay, who shot 58% from the field en route to 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for the Rams to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
