Baseball Recap: Lake Highland Prep Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Lake Highland Prep came into Wednesday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers with a sharp 12-1 win on Wednesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Highlanders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Rhys Dellinger spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, Landon Towns and Manny Socarras did most of the damage at the plate: Towns scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3, while Socarras scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Towns has become a key player for Lake Highland Prep: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jackson Sweet, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Lake Highland Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy only posted an OBP of .333.

Lake Highland Prep's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Highland Prep will host Merritt Island Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they will face off against Cocoa Beach at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
