Softball Recap: Bellows Falls Sets Scoring Season-High Against Woodstock

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bellows Falls). They put the hurt on the Woodstock Wasps with a sharp 23-1 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Terriers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Izzy Stoodley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Cadence James was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Brielle Mulverhill was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Bellows Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bellows Falls pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Woodstock, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Bellows Falls will take on Oxbow at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Olympians will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Terriers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Woodstock, they will square off against Randolph at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
