While DeKalb didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Waubonsie Valley Warriors on Monday. The game was the first time the Barbs have beaten the Warriors on their field since April 18, 2023.

The team relied heavily on Isabel Aranda, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Hazel Montavon was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Aranda wasn't the only one making solid contact: DeKalb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

DeKalb's record now sits at 8-2. As for Waubonsie Valley, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. DeKalb will take on rival Naperville Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Waubonsie Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Neuqua Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
