Riverview sees their postseason come to a close

Recap: Riverview Sharks vs. Sumner Stingrays

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Riverview Sharks can now relate to. They took a serious blow against the Stingrays on Thursday, falling 70-37. Riverview has not had much luck with Sumner recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Riverview's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Gilroy, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Bryson Kearney, who scored nine points.

Leading Sumner to victory were Jabory Nelson and Jacob Douglas. Nelson scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four blocks, while Douglas scored 15 points along with seven steals and five assists. Douglas has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Williams, who scored 12 points.

Riverview dropped their record down to 4-19 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Sumner, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Riverview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sumner, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Lakewood Ranch at 1:00 p.m. on February 10th. Lakewood Ranch has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 327 points over their last five matches.
