Basketball Game Preview: Mayfair Monsoons vs. St. Monica Mariners

The Mayfair Monsoons will head out to face off against the St. Monica Mariners at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mayfair has given up an average of 57.7 points per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Mayfair made easy work of Dominguez and carried off an 87-65 win. Given the Monsoons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Dons are ranked 544th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, St. Monica was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy.

Mayfair is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points over those games. As for St. Monica, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10.

Mayfair came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Monica when the teams last played back in December of 2024, sneaking past 59-56. Will the Monsoons repeat their success, or do the Mariners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
