Baseball Game Preview: Mabel-Canton Cougars vs. Hayfield Vikings

The Mabel-Canton Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Hayfield Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Mabel-Canton came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-0 to Southland. The Cougars have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Mabel-Canton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Underbakke, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Hayfield beat Houston 8-3 on Saturday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Mabel-Canton's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Hayfield, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Mabel-Canton couldn't quite finish off Hayfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
