Kingston Flemings named 2024-25 Texas MaxPreps High School Basketball Player of the Year

Senior point guard led Brennan to 33 wins, Class 6A Division 1 semifinals.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Kingston Flemings of Brennan (San Antonio) is the 2024-25 Texas MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-3 senior guard led the Bears to a 33-3 record and a trip to the Class 6A Division 1 state semifinals.

For the season, Flemings averaged 20.4 points, 6.8 assists, 6.4 rebounds and 2.9 steals per contest. He shot 61.3 percent from the field and 82.7 percent from the free throw line.

In an 88-86 victory over nationally-ranked Dynamic Prep (Irving) early in the season, Flemings pumped in a career-high 46 points to go along with eight rebounds, six steals and five assists while shooting 15 of 26 from the field and 15 of 15 from the free throw line.

During an impressive four-year career with Brennan, Flemings piled up 2,452 points, 873 assists and 809 rebounds while leading the program to a record of 127-25.

Regarded as a top 20 prospect in the Class of 2025 according to 247Sports, Flemings singed with Houston over offers from Alabama, Baylor, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas and Texas Tech among others.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 8. Past selections include 2023-24 All-NBA picks Devin Booker (2014), Jalen Brunson (2014, 2015), Anthony Davis (2011), Kevin Durant (2006), Anthony Edwards (2019) and Jayson Tatum (2014, 2015, 2016).
