Basketball Recap: Pinkston's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Pinkston won the last time they faced Wilmer-Hutchins and things went their way on Friday too. The Pinkston Vikings strolled past the Wilmer-Hutchins Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 67-51. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the Eagles are ranked 961st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Loss or not, Wilmer-Hutchins got some senior leadership from Antonio Mcmillon and Dezmond Williams. Mcmillon went 5 of 6 en route to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Williams posted 16 points. That's the most steals Mcmillon has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Camron Buster, who put up eight points.

Pinkston is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Wilmer-Hutchins, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-20 record this season.

Pinkston will head out to take on Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roosevelt is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season. Wilmer-Hutchins has already played their next matchup (against Carter), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
