Baseball Recap: Mahanoy Area Comes Up Short

Mahanoy Area couldn't beat Panther Valley on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Golden Bears fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-6. The Golden Bears just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row.

Mike Oblas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Justin De La Rosa, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Mahanoy Area's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Panther Valley, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-9 record.

Looking ahead, Mahanoy Area will head out to challenge Shenandoah Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Panther Valley, they will be playing at home against Pottsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
