Softball Recap: Bravo's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bravo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Marshall Barristers 12-11. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 6-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Mariluz Diaz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. Lexie Avila was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bravo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory was the third in a row for Bravo, bringing their record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Marshall, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Bravo will square off against Franklin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marshall, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wilson at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mules have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.92 runs per game on average), something the Barristers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
